To qualify for the tax credit you were to be under contract by April 30th and close by June 30th.  Apparently there is an amendment being attached to a controversial jobs and tax bill that, if passed, could extend the closing date to September 30th, 2010!  That would be great news for those who are patiently waiting for their short sales to close.  The bill it is attached to is controversial and could be radically changed before it goes to vote.  Lawmakers are not scheduled to vote on the bill until next week at the earliest.
